Mile Marker: Know the Word

We kicked off a three week teaching this past Sunday night entitled "Mile Marker: Marks of Maturity."  We came to grips with that fact that we won't always have youth group.  We as leaders won't always be around to teach you how to follow Jesus.  There are certain things that if we are going to mature and become more like Jesus (which is what it means to be a Christian), we need to learn how to do it on our own and not lean solely on someone else to teach and grow us.
One of these aspects of Christian maturity...even as a teen...is knowing how to read the Bible and why it is important.

Use the questions below to help guide you this week through this first Mile Marker: Know the Word.
1. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17
- What does these verses say about the importance of God's Word to our lives and maturing process?
- Do you truly believe the Bible is God's Word directly to us?
- Do you believe the Bible is still relevant for today's youth culture?  why or why not?

2. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says that scripture is useful for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness...so that we are equipped for every good work...for living our lives
- What does it mean to be righeous?
- When it says that scripture helps us in traing righteousness...what do you think that means?

3. Ultimately, scripture is God's love letter to us about how life is supposed to work (for His glory)
- Where/to whom do you go for instruction on how to live life?  (friends, parents, media, etc...)
- Why do you trust that source for how to live life?

4. What gets in the way of you loving God's Word?  Confess those things to God and ask for strength to love and cherish His Word for your life.

Join us at Matt & Amanda's this Thursday at 7pm as we continue to lear how to read, study, apply, and love the Bible! We will be working in groups in effort to better understand the 3 C's and the Big Picture of the Bible... See you Thursday!
