Where Am I "All In?"

I love stuff...lets be honest, you do too. We live in a society that measures success by what you have and what you have determines who you are, and lets face it, we care what others think about us. Jesus tells us in Luke 12:34 that the things that we treasure here on earth reveal the status' of our hearts....its that simple...its that straight forward.

But here is the thing, because we live in such a materialistic society, we tend to create a disconnect between the maturity of our relationship with Jesus and the way we spend "our" money. Does Jesus REALLY mean that?

But what if Jesus really did care about where we spend our money? Sunday night we saw that Jesus speaks more about money and wealth in the N.T. than He does about heaven and hell. He talks about money and wealth 5x more than prayer, and 16 of Jesus' 38 parables mention money.

It is time, even as teens, for us to wake up and realize that what we treasure...what we spend our money on says alot about what we are about. For this first week, we want to continue to think about where we are "all in"...where we spend our resources. Be honest with yourself and be honest with God, and while you are at it, be reminded of his amazing grace and love for you!

Use these questions to help you go deeper this week with our week 1 All In series.

1. Re-read Luke 12:13-21

Life does not consist in the abundance of possession...what are your thoughts about what Jesus says to this man?

2. Where are you "All In" with the resources you have? Where do you spend your money?

3. Read James 1:17

All good and perfect things are from God. One of God's charcterisitcs is that he is good...all the time. Everthing we have is from God. But so often, we act as if everything we have is from our earnings...its our money and our stuff. How does our perspective on money and materials change when our perspective on where our money and resources come from change?

4. What does a mature Christian look like? Make a list...does how he or she spends their resources make the list?...why or why not?

5. What is important to you in life? Friends, stuff, future, etc...
