Have I told you? I'm glad to be back and am SO excited for this school year! I have seen God move in so many of your lives in the past few years and I am so blessed to be a part of it all!
Last night, we kicked off Jacob's Well. We looked at the idea that Jacob's Well isn't just a name for our Sunday night program, it represents the type of ministry we want to be. We want to be RELENTLESS in sharing Jesus with our friends, against all odds and fears, because as sons and and daughters of Jesus, He was relentless in His pursuit of us! We want to be AUTHENTIC and allow people to see the real change God has made in us....we want to be a place where we can be real with one another and not ashamed. And we want to be students filled with GRACE because of the grace that Jesus showed us. RELENTLESS. AUTHENTIC. GRACE. That's what we strive to be as indivudal students, and what we strive to create in the FOUR:12 Student Ministry!
For our first week back at Senior High KAIROS this Thursday, I want to encourage you to read through John 4:1-42 again...
1. What sticks out to you most in this story? What is most shocking?
2. Think about the cultural do's and don'ts that we see take place here (Examples: Jews don't talk to Samaritans, Jewish men don't talk to Samaritan woman, and you don't share eating/drinking utensils with one another...)
What are some cultural do's and don'ts that we tend to follow as teens in our society? What are you supposed to do and not supposed to do?
3. What is the different between being an American Christian and a Christian in America?
4. Which is hardest for you? To be relentless and bold in sharing Jesus (John 4:28), being authentic and allowing people to see how Jesus changed you (John 4:29), or showing people grace- acceptance and love (John 4:39-42)?
5. How are you like the woman in this story? How are you different?
6. Have you been spiritually filled with living water? If not, do you realize your thirst? What do you fill your life with?
If you have, do you still feel quenched, or have you become dry again?
7. What would it look like to come back to the "well" and be reminded of Jesus amazing love for you? Do you need to be reminded?
8. One of my favorite parts about this story is the way Jesus uses this woman that no one thinks can be used for anything good...as a tenager...do you feel this way at all- wondering how God could use you?
9. Read 1 Cor. 1:26-31...God is about using the foolish and weak to do great things...Maybe the point of being "ready" to be used by God doesn't mean growing up or looking good and mature, but it is realizing we are weak and nothing without God...humbling isn't it?
10. What gifts and talents has God given you...how can He use you to do great things for Him?
Plan to join us this Thursday night at 7 for KAIROS at Matt & Amandas!
