Summer Missions...It's right around the corner

Hey students and parents! We wanted to give you a heads up as to what we are thinking for this summer's missions trip. Our plan as of right now, is to head back to student life. Student Life (www.studentlife.com) is a solid, biblical student ministry organization that not only offers quality, biblically-sound resources, but life-changing events as well. Last year, we spent a week at Liberty University in VA. We took a group of 16 senior highers down, and each one of them came back challenged in a new way by God's truth and the experiences they had there.

This summer, we want to be intentional about providing a trip where middle school and senior high students can come together as the body of Christ in order to be used as His church for His glory and honor. The thought was thrown around about providing 2 seperate trips this summer, but the more we thought and prayed about this, the more the idea to combine trips became the better choice. We know this won't be easy, but we believe that in the long run, this will pay of huge for our student ministry and the relationships between each of the students. So what is the plan?

As of right now, we have decided to attend Student Life's Mission Camp at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida. The dates of camp are August 1-5, 2011. However, because of the distance, we have decided to place stops along the way. On the way down, we will be stopping at Epworth by the Sea, a Christian camp in Georgia, where students will have the opportunity to prepare for missions camp, as well as participate in other eye-opening experiences through work projects. On the way home, we will make a stop in North Carolina, where students will have the opportunity to see how God is working there as well!

This will most likely be a 9-10 day trip, July 29-August 7. The final costs are unknown as of now (apprx. $500 before fundraising), but please be advised that our goal is to provide a number of ways for kids to fundraise the money needed for this trip. We will also be in need of 5-6 other adults/parents who have a passion to be used by God on a trip like this to speak truth into the lives of our middle school and senior high students.

I know we are a ways away, but we encourage you to be praying about the possibility of you, your son and/or daughter attending this summer's missions camp experience in Florida. In the upcoming weeks, information will be made available to you about this summer trip. We have 25 spots available this year, so once sign ups begin, make sure to act fast as we are sure spots will go quickly! We look forward to what God is going to do during this trip, as well as before, and after, in the lives of our students and their families.
