This past week, we finished up our series on community. It has been a crazy couple of weeks as we saw how we were created to be in community with both God and others, and what this type of community is actually supposed to look like in our everyday high school lives. This past Sunday evening, Adam showed us how being in community with others does not only deepen our relationships with them, but ultimately it shows us more of who God is and the love He has for us.
To help you take this message deeper during this next week and to prepare you for Thursday night's small group, take some time over the next few days to read John 17:20-23 and think about these questions:
1. What do you feel the purpose is of this small group?
- Why do we get together each week?
2. Do you now, or have you ever, had someone in your life who you learned about Jesus from or through? (This isn't necessarily a teacher who taught you, or someone who gave you advice, but rather someone who you experienced life with and learned about Jesus from in the process.)
3. How would you define the 12 disciples? Did they have everything in common? Were they best friends before catching up with Jesus? What does who they are, tell us about what we should be as a group? What is the one common factor that held them together?
4. Who does Jesus pray for in John 17:20-23?
- What is the purpose of His prayer for Christians?
5. How does the world see Jesus through our community with other Christians?
6. What is the difference between people-centered community and Jesus-centered community?
Make sure to take a look at these questions before coming on Thursday night. Our prayer is that Jesus will take you deeper this week in your community with others and the example you set for the world of Christ's love. Remember, we are meeting at the Tuhacek's house all throughout October. We hope to see you this week at 7pm!
