Last night we began a three week series called "Pause." During these three weeks we will be focusing on the idea of spending quiet time with God. The goal of these three weeks isn't necessarily to get you to create a "quiet time." The goal of these three weeks is to walk you through some of the reasons why it is so hard to have those quiet times in our lives with God- why do we fail so often at spending time with God? And what are we missing out on if we don't?Adam kicked off week one by walking us through the idea that we "need to pause in order to be present." Take some time during this next week to think about this idea of "living in the moment." Use these questions to help guide you into a deeper understanding of what it means to pause.
1. Read Exodus 24- While in the process of leading God's people, God calls Moses to Himself, and in verse 12, tells him to "Come up to me on the mountain and stay here..."
*What do you think was going through Moses' busy mind, when God called him to come and simply "stay"?
*What do you think was going through Moses' busy mind, when God called him to come and simply "stay"?
2. Do you think it is possible to physically "be" somewhere, yet not be there "mentally" or "socially"? What causes this for you?
3. What do you think it means to be "present in the moment"?
4. How good are you at being "in the moment"?
5. Read Matthew 6:25-34- How often do you worry? What do you worry about? Does worrying cause you to think more about the future and leave the present moment? How can this hinder your quest to pause?
6. How busy is your schedule? What busy life choices could you eliminate in order to pause and be with God?
7. How does culture keep us from "being in the moment"?
8. What is one way that you can begin to "pause" this week?
Plan to join us this Thursday night at the Tuhacek's from 7:00pm-8:30pm as we talk about these questions and you share your thoughts and ideas about pausing in the midst of our busy culture. We hope to see you then!
