What Are You For?
This morning I had the opportunity to head over to Methacton High School and Arcola Intermediate School for their See You At The Pole events. As I stood there watching and praying, I couldn't help but notice the number of head-turning students as they stepped off their buses prepared for another usual day of school. It was a picture of what the church is to be- a light in the midst of a dark and confused world. We the church are to be head-turners. However, so often when we do in fact "turn heads", it is for the wrong reasons. So I pose this questions to you today students- What Are You as a Christian "For"? So often we get stuck in this "here is what I am against" mentality as Christians. And although we are to definitely be against certain things of this world as Christians, what is it that we are exactly for? As I read through the ministry of Jesus in the Gospels, I often see Him turning heads, not necessarily because of what He was againist, but because of the hope, life, and new way of living He was ushering in.
Students, on this See You At The Pole celebration day, may you recognize what it is you are for, and may your passion and newness of life be evident to all those you come in contact with. May their heads and hearts continue to be turned- turned directly to the grace, truth, and life we have received through the cross of Jesus Christ. What Are You For?
